JORDAN MISNER (SIFU) Sifu Jordan Misner

Jordan began studying Chinese martial arts in the early 1990s in Milwaukee, WI and continued his studies when he moved to Tucson in 1994. In 2004 during a visit to San Francisco he spent some time with a close friend and fellow martial arts enthusiast. Through his friend he discovered the potential power of Zhuang Zhan standing meditation. As a result of this discovery he sought out a deeper understanding and training in the Internal Martial Art of Yi Chuan. As a result of this search he found Grandmaster Sam Tam (Tam Maan Yin), one of the foremost Internal Martial Artists in North America. Master Tam is a highly sought after teacher and has students worldwide. Jordan has had the good fortune to become a close student and friend of Master Tam and currently serves on the Board for Master Tam’s Internal Martial Arts for Health and Enlightenment Association.

Jordan volunteers his time to Wind River Internal Martial Arts, a non-profit association formed to promote Master Tam’s teachings in the Southwest. Sifu Jordan teaches Wind River classes held each week at the Tucson Chinese Cultural Center.

Jason Hurford

Dai Sihing Jason HurfordJason has been learning from Sifu Jordan since the beginning of the Wind River school and he has been working closely with Sifu in all aspects of teaching and running the many activities of Wind River IMA. Jason has also had the opportunity to attend and learn privately with Master Tam over many years.

Joanne Fisher

After years of searching and exploring tai chi, Joanne found the Wind River school around 2010.  Ever since then, this school has been her Tai Chi home.  Her immersion into the internal and external aspects of the tai chi chuan has been enhanced by other practices including standing meditation, pushing hands and applications, the Dao Yin, 5 animal qi gongs, and weapons forms.  Since 2013, she has attended the Annual Intensive Training Retreats taught by Grand Master, Sam Tam.  With Sifu Jordan’s encouragement, she has studied directly with Sam Tam.  Her teaching reflects the principles and practice as taught by Sifu Jordan, consistent with the teachings of Grand Master Sam Tam.

Russ Mott

Russ has been interested in Tai Chi and oriental philosophy for many years. He attended his first Tai Chi class in 1982. Although he studied Tai Chi with different teachers over the years, something in the instruction always seemed to be missing. In 2013, he attended a class by Sifu Jordan Misner, and was instantly hooked. Master Tam’s and Sifu Misner’s emphasis on internal development, including standing meditation and chi gung, as well as the form and weapons, was the perfect environment to return to Tai Chi. Russ has studied with Sifu Jordan since 2013 and attended workshops with Master Tam. He enjoys teaching and sharing the joy of learning Tai Chi.
